Folks warned us but I thought they must be exaggerating. But no. Oh no. Paris right now is a zoo. Huge swarms of people - jostelling, elbows out, oblivious to other tourists. I have never liked crowds and this experience ranks up there as one of the worst.

Trevi Fountain? In my dreams to throw in a coin. I could not get within throwing distance because of the crowds. If you must see Trevi Fountain, the best time is 3 to 4 am.

I was lucky to have visited Rome in the 1980s and Trevi Fountain and Rome were not under the current "tourist siege".
